چکیده
Abstract Nontuberculous mycobacteria can cause disseminated infections in immunocompromised patients and are challenging to treat because of antimicrobial resistance adverse effects prolonged multidrug treatment. We report successful treatment with bedaquiline, a novel antimycobacterial drug, as part combination therapy for 2 nontuberculous co-infected HIV.

We determined disseminated nontuberculous mycobacteria incidence in the HIV-infected population of Oregon, USA, during 2007-2012 by using statewide laboratory surveillance. We identified 37 disseminated nontuberculous mycobacteria cases among 7,349 patients with median annual incidence of 110/100,000 HIV person-years and the highest incidence in those with CD4 counts <50 cells/mm3 (5,300/100,00...
متن کاملA Simple and Rapid Method for the Detection of HIV-1/HCV in Co-Infected Patients
Background: Due to some limitations of serological methods in diagnosis of patients infected with HIV-1 (human immunodeficiency virus) and HCV (hepatitis C virus), it is profoundly important to use molecular methods for the detecting of these infectious agents. However, the most significant problems are the exorbitant cost of these methods and the need of a thermocycler which is an expensive...
متن کاملTreatment of Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection in Patients Co-infected with Hiv
Chronic infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) affects about 5% of the world population (1). In Western Europe, Australia and the USA prevalence of chronic carriers of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is less than 1% of the population. Among human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected individuals this prevalence is approximately 10 fold higher (2). Until recently, studies on HBV infection in...
